United Nations Sustainable Development Goals

The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a set of 17 goals that were adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015. The SDGs provide a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. The goals are an urgent call for action by all countries – developed and developing – in a global partnership. They recognise that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.

The 17 SDGs are as follows:

ISO Standards Alignment with UNSDG Goals

ISO standards contribute directly to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by providing effective tools to help organisations and companies not only rise to challenge but provide tangible evidence that they adhere to the obligations. ISO standards cover almost every subject imaginable, from technical solutions to systems that organise processes and procedures. ISO has identified the standards that make the most significant contribution to each of the 17 SDGs.

ISO contributes to all the SDGs. Here you can see the number of ISO standards that are directly applicable to each goal.
