Having emerged from a corporate environment in 2019, Ian is now one of our Associate Consultants, having many years of experience in the areas of quality management, business improvement and management systems.
He is a Lead Auditor for ISO 9001 and ISO 22301 and has personally led, in a large corporate environment, the implementation of management systems standards ISO 9001 (Quality), ISO 22301 (Business Continuity), OHSAS 18001 (Health & Safety) and PAS 99 (Integrated Management Systems). He has also acted as a senior assessor for the British Quality Foundation (BQF) and the EFQM on multiple occasions in many sectors, as well as having been on the UK Excellence Award judges panel.
Over more than twenty years Ian has led business improvement teams for large multi-national organisations in the Telecoms (Design & Development) and Healthcare (Technical Service) sectors. During this time his teams were responsible for implementing business process improvements based on the EFQM Model and achieving and maintaining a range of certifications. The impact of these teams on the success of their organisations is evidenced by those organisations winning three UK Excellence Awards, being recognised as EFQM Global Award finalists and receiving multiple special awards in the process.
A qualified electrical engineer, Ian’s early career was spent in product design, manufacture and engineering management, which gave him a detailed understanding of the process of taking a product from concept to market, through design, approval and production. This allowed him to develop sound expertise in ‘systems thinking’ and move on to management systems design.
